  1. We travel using bikes, cars, and in other ways with wheels and our legs. travel has come a long way since the medieval times, and probably the most popular form of transport has been bikes and cars. there have been many models of the bicycle, dating from the boneshaker, all the way to the carbon frame touring bike.

we use phones laptops and letters to communicate with each other. People that lived a long time ago, used to pass information to each other without laptops or phones, mainly through word of mouth. different country's had different ways of speaking like the Egyptians who had 3 laungagis which were Greek, roman and hiroglifs

  2. Egyptian Transportation :

    • Walk
    • Boat
    • If you were rich you could afford enough soldiers to carry you around on a wooden board with a chair.
    •Kings and soldiers got chariots.

    Boats:
The classical wooden Egyptian boat was only invented at the end of the old dynasty.
Until then they sailed down the Nile with sturdy papyrus boats. These boats were bound With string and not a single nail.

    Archeology:
Egyptologists did not know a lot about boats until they found tombs because Egyptians believed that boats took them to the afterlife, so they buried small models in tombs. Egyptologists studied these models and collected data.

    Canals:
In the middle of the new dynasty, Egyptians excavated land connected to the Nile and sailed down them to places. Fortunately, the wind went down with the Nile current
and the boats sailed to catch that wind.

    Paupers:
If you were poor you had to walk approximately 30-40km a day.

    Modern Day's:
If you compare it to modern days we have a lot more ways to travel. What do we expect
when it was three thousand years ago .

We have more sophisticated ways of transport like cars, planes, trains, hovercrafts, bikes and motorbikes etc. They didn't have so many ways of transporting. They only had 3.

    1. Transport and Communication

Compared to the previous eras, our transport and communication has been advanced profoundly. Thanks to the inventors of this great technology
especially James Watt, James Ford, the Wright Brothers, Alexzandro Volta and Charles Babbage etc.

In Modern day transport,we can fly in the sky in an aeroplane and helicopter. We can dive under water in submarines. We can skim over water in our great cruise liners of the ocean.
We can go over to places in a short times using cars, public transport like buses, trains and taxis. All the transport uses either coal, electricity, metal or fuel.

Now lets move over to our modern day communication that is fast and easy to use such as phones, social sites, messenger and postal etc. By using social sites and messengers
We can communicate to our lots of friends and family members with the touch of our fingers.

      miss Joseph;
sorry I forgot the communication and that we were doing homework about modern day

  3. In the modern days we communicate in different ways. We use technology to talk to people. We have phones ion our homes and we also have mobile phones if we are somewhere else. There are also computers for emailing people. We still use writing as a form of communicating. We use video calling to see and speak to relatives in other countries. Because of this technology we get to communicate with others quicker.

Now moving on to transport today. We don’t use animals as much to travel anymore, instead we have different vehicles to get to places quicker. We use non engine vehicles like bikes and scooters to get to near bye places and cares and trains to get further. We can also travel by plane and ship to get to different countries. People have also travelled to space by rocket.
So you can see that transport and communication now are very different to ancient Egypt.

  4. Most people got around on foot. Animals and wheeled vehicles were not widely used. Most goods and people traveled by river. Cattle, stone, grain and cedar from Lebanon were brought to Egyptian cities by Nile ships.

The Semitic Hyksos who briefly ruled Egypt introduced the horse and chariot around 1700 B.C. When hooked up to a pair of horses, an Egyptian chariot, weighing only 17 pounds, could easily reach speeds of 20 miles-per-hour (compared to two miles-per-hour with oxen). The chariots enabled the Egyptians to expand their empire.

Camels were not introduced to Egypt until around 200 B.C. Until then donkey caravans were used to bring gold, ebony, ivory, rare stones for statues, incense and panther skins.

A perfect scale model of a working glider was discovered in 2,000-year-old Egyptian tomb.

Many of the roads in the desert, mountains, and rural areas are tracks. Some tracks are surprising hard and smooth. Generally, though, they are bumpy and in poor condition. After it rains they often become impassable. Off the beaten track, people on the move have to deal with quagmires (during the rainy season), deep sand, deep ruts, big rocks, dust, steep hills, landslides, and washed out surfaces. They also presumably had to deal with various animals in the roads.

  5. Transport and communication.

Since ancient times humans are using various types of transportations. Earlier they used to walk , ride on horses or donkeys to go from one place to another.
In modern days we now use aeroplanes to fly around the world. Even if the engines are really noisy it is the best way to travel and we save lot of time. But travelling on aeroplanes makes the environment more polluted.
People also use different types of transportation like trains, buses and cars. We can also walk, ride our bikes or go on a ship.
With the new technology humans are able to land on the Moon and they have sent many rockets to Mars and Pluto from which we are getting beautiful pictures of these planets.
Transportation is important activity because people need to buy food, and go to schools or work.
In simple words communication is the process to exchange or share your thoughts. There are various modes of communication.
In old days people use to communicate by sending letters. Today we still continue sending letters to people around the world.
These days we communicate through mobile phones, emails which are fast ways of communication.

  6. Transport and Communication Today

    There are many different types of communication methods we use today such as;

Telephones – this is used at home to call family and friends and also to receive phone calls from them.
Mobile phones – these are used when you are going out of the house for shopping or when you are going to your family or friends house. Mobile phones can be used when you are out of the house.
Laptops/Computers/iPads – we can use emails to send messages to other people. We can also use Skype and Face time to call other people and see them on the screen which is a fantastic way to keep in touch with them.
Letters – we use paper to write letters to other people and cards for special days and send these in the post to their houses. This is the most traditional method of communication.

    There are many different types of Transport we also use today;

Car/Buses – We drive the car to go shopping, school and other places near where we live. There are lots of different models you can buy with great features.
Trains – we go on the train to go to far places in London or out of London which is faster than going in the car. There is also a very fast train that takes you to places in Europe it is called the Euro star.
Aeroplanes – we go on a plane to go to different countries around the world.

We can also walk to local places, or ride on a bike or scooter to travel to get there.

Since the Ancient Egypt times there is now technology to help us communicate with other people and travel to other places around the world.
We now live in a very advanced world where there is lots of gadgets that people use, great technology and we also have Rockets which fly out to Space which is awsome.

  7. Transport and communication today

The development of transport vehicles has had an incredible impact on todays life. In Ancient Egyptian times they used horses or they've been walking. Now we can move quicker by using trains, buses, motorbikes, cars, bikes, scooters or even quicker then that - airplanes. Some people can even go to space by sensational spaceships. I think we still should try to walk or run if we can, because its better for our health. We are so lucky now, because we have i pads, phones, computers for quick communication. People using now skype, twitter, facebook to communicate with each other. Unfortunately, because of that, not many people use letters to communicate. Ancient Egyptians mainly communicated through writing; hieroglyphics and heratic. People also communicated through plays and the theater, expressing their feelings and thoughts to the viewers, by acting out their thoughts.

    Transportation

Transportation is a movement to take people, things and animals to other different places. Now a day there are different modes of transportations such as road, rail, air, sea and cable. The most popular transport is that people uses cars for travelling because it is convenience. People also use the bus and taxi to get to their destination. Lorry is used to transport goods from one place to another. Trains can take more people and goods to their destination. The trains are fast, they go from one station to another. People can get in or out. The aeroplane, helicopter and jet are examples of the awesome air transportation invented. Air transport makes it easier to go to far distances and other places such as different countries. Air transport is the second fastest method of transport. The example of the sea’s transportation is the boat, ferry, speed boat and submarine. People use the sea transportation to get to the islands. The cable car is a fantastic transportation that it carries people from mountain to mountain or it goes from ground to mountain. The cable car is slow but can entertain people to see the beautiful and amazing view from the top.

Ancient Egyptian’s transportation is not as beautiful and comfortable as todays. Their main transportation is by boat. They row or with the help of wind, they do not have engines or wheels.

    Communication
Communication is a way to pass messages to other people. Mobiles are commonly used today when you want to communicate because it is easy to carry around as it is little, it can be carried inside your pocket. You can also use an iPad, telephone and a laptop to communicate. These electronics are called mediums. When you want to give a message to a lot people you can use:
    • Magazines
    • News paper
    • Cinemas
    • TV
    • Radio
    • Theatre and plays.

Sometimes you can communicate by internet. Internet is useful because we can get lots of information.

In ancient Egypt a French soldier found this stone called the Rosetta stone. It has 3 different languages which is demotic, Greek and one they had to find out which was called hieroglyphics. They used the hieroglyphics to write. They also communicated with plays in the theatre and pray to god.

  9. Transportation and Communication

Transportation is when you travel from where you are to a destination.
    Modes of transportation :
    1) Human powered: It is when you use human power to move which includes running, walking, swimming, water rowing, skating , inline skating skiing and cycling.
    2) Animal powered:It means animal power is used to help to take people and goods from one place to another. Use pack of animals for carrying goods or harness them alone or in a team to pull sledge or wheeled vehicles
    3) Roads:It is when you use a machine along with fuel and electricity to travel. When you travel by road you can use cars, buses, trucks , motorbikes, cycles, skates, scooter and quad bike.
    4) Air: It also includes the use of machines and fuel to travel long distances. Travelling by air is done by using planes, gliders, gyroplane, helicopter, rocket.
    5) Water: People can travel by ships, rowing boats, hover craft , canoe, yacht, ferries, speed boat, cruiser, tall ship, tug boats and cargo ships for carrying goods.
    6) Rail: It is when you use electricity , fuel and magnetic levitation(Maglev) they include mono rail ( it has wheels hidden to the inside that makes it go along the track), sub way, trains and trams using electricity, steam trains use steam and maglev uses magnetic power to fly a few centimetres above the track

Communication is when you exchange information by speaking , writing and any other form of communication as non verbal communication.

    Types of Communication:
1)Written communication : It is when you write down something you want to tell to someone e.g. E-mails, letters, messages, books, articles , magazines etc. As in the olden times it was drawings and carving on the stones.
2)Verbal communication:It is when you talk to someone to communicate e.g. On the phone, face -to-face talk, use of internet to talk such as skype etc.
3)Non-verbal communication: It is when you convey meaning without using words e.g. gesture, body language, face expressions, eye contact and sign language.

As written above these days travel and communication are very advanced and have made day to day life very easy, saving both time & effort. In the olden times it took months to travel far distances and for communication they used letters which again took a lot of time and at times even got lost.

  10. Transport and communication today
We travel in many ways .Here are some ways to travel walk, run, car, train and more. Lots of people travel by car and bus but manly car. It is amazing how transport has come a long way from the ancient Egypt and before that. There transport was moving with their legs, boats and if they were a rich person they would get a chair that was made out of wood and people to carry the chair.
We also have lots of ways to communication each other. Like phone, letter, computer and laptop .A phone you can call, email and then kind of was to messages. In the ancient Egypt there had to write a letter or go to then. Laptop and computer email and the ways to messages but there is one that haven’t changed. That is writing a letter. The letter has not changed. Even in ancient Egypt the letter .

  11. Hyde Park I am glad you are all using the internet to do your research. However as this is your literacy homework it is very important that you write what you have found in your own words. Please do not copy and paste from other websites as this does not show your writing skills.

Try to use the features we learnt in class; adverbial phrases, adverbs and paragraphs. Well done to those making comments on others work. Please ensure your comments are constructive it should include mostly positive comments (think two stars and a wish). Keep up the good work everyone!

  12. Transport and Communication Today
There are many different forms of transport, which people use depending on where they are going. If people are travelling to a different country they would go on a plane that can travel over sea and land and reach high speeds. You can also take a luxury cruise ship or huge ferry to travel across the sea, they can also take cars. To travel long distances over land people can take the speedy train. You can even travel on a train underwater through a tunnel on Eurostar to France. If people go on shorter journeys they can travel in many ways like, cars, coaches, buses and motorbikes.
Nowadays people communicate with speaking. The writing has changed because a very long time ago they used hieroglyphs carved on ancient Egyptian walls. People now use lots of electronic ways to communicate which means they don’t have to talk to somebody. Like texting using a phone or through social media like facebook. People can communicate face to face using technology through facetime or skpe on a computer or tablet. Nowadays communication is much quicker. If people send a letter it can be delivered the next day by a train or a plane transporting it overnight.
Disabled people also have different ways to communicate. If you are deaf you can use sign language with your hands. Blind people can read using something called braille, which is like raised bumps on a page.

  13. Transport is used for moving people or goods from one place to another. Some means of transport might not be ideal for the trip such as if you wanted to go to Australia would you ride a horse or ride in a plane?

In the Stone Age, people used their legs as the only mode of transport. But walking had its own challenges. Bad weather made walking difficult. Mountains were more difficult to climb than walking on a straight road. Long distances made you feel extremely tired and crossing the sea on 2 legs or even swimming across was definitely impossible. Then it evolved to using animals to either sit on one or pull a heavy cart loaded with lots of people or goods. Even though animals were faster than humans, they had the same problems as humans. Sitting on an animal could only transport 1 or 2 people. Carts were used for more but couldn’t be used for mountains or sea. Then boats and bridges were invented to cross huge bodies of water. They used the winds to manoeuvre the boats and they also used currents. Then the steam engine was invented by the one and only superb James Watt and used for carts, boats and trains. The problem was that they needed coal. Coal was very heavy and they needed lots of it. People had to put the coal into the engine with fire so they inhaled a lot of smoke which was bad for their lungs. Later on petrol and diesel were discovered and used in cars, buses, trucks and Motorbikes. Finally, electricity was introduced to the world by the amazing Thomas Alva Edison. Today, various types of transport are available like Trains, Trams, Electric scooters, a Segway and Float decks. But be careful, some vehicles are not environment friendly.

Communication is used for exchanging messages and information. There are many different ways of communication like Speech and writing which needs language, braille, sign language and the Morse code. Now there was language people could write letters and communicate. As electricity was invented so were phones, I-pods, I-pads and computers. The advantage of a phone is you can speak to people who are very far away in a different country and using computers people e-mailed each other. Through the television people also communicate the news and this is called broadcasting which is used to communicate, to many people at once. Now video calls like skype are available so people could see each other. You can also communicate with walkie talkies but they are only ideal for short distances. Satellites help communication through television and phones.

    Extension-
The Egyptians did not have any other means of transport except walking, donkeys and wagons on land but on the water they were completely qualified boat masters. Their main means of travelling on water was the 6’853 km long river Nile. Although we had better transport on land they had better communication and transport on water.

Communication levelled Egypt up because they had hieroglyphics and could communicate and understand each other. Hieroglyphs were easy to draw and understand.

  14. Transportation
We use transport to help us travel. Different types of transport are like trains, cars, planes, ferry, cablecar, ships, bikes, boats and helicopters. It doesn't need to be powered by fuel, for example chariots are pulled by horses and bikes are powered by our legs. In ancient Egypt there were no fuel or powered of transport. They used horses, donkeys, camels and chariots to travel around. In conclusion there wasn't as much transport in ancient Egypt as there is today so a lot of people had to walk to travel.

    Communication
Communication means sending and receiving messages. Different ways of communicating are talking and listening, sign language ,actions and signals ,facetime, letters text emails, phone calls carrier pigeon. In ancient Egypt had no electronic types of communication. If they wanted to send a message they wrote a letter and sent it by a man on a horse. In conclusion in ancient Egypt it took a long time to communicate to people around the world compared to today when it only takes a few seconds to send a text to someone on the other side of the world.

    TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATION
    **********************************************

    Transportation:

In Ancient Egypt they had limited ways of transportation. Poor people traveled by foot, but some lucky people could buy horses, donkeys or even camels to travel longer distances and to carry heavier loads to trade with. The pharaohs and other noble people would be carried by their servants, or they would have horse-drawn chariots.
In the modern world there are far more ways to travel than Ancient Egypt. Many people in the developed world can afford cars. Although cars have created pollution and congestion on the roads, and are expensive to maintain, they provide private and independent transport for people. Buses and trains are public transport. Trains can travel longer distances than buses, but they both offer cheap, comfortable and reliable transport for millions of people who can't afford the luxury of cars.
Boats and ships are used to travel across lakes, rivers and oceans. Some colossal ships like ferries or cruise ships can take you really long distances, and can also take you to another country for a luxury holiday.
Planes and air travel provide an easy, fast but expensive way to travel to different countries for work or holidays.

    Communication:

In modern days there are lots of different ways to communicate such as using phones to text, call other people and skype them to, so that you talk to them and see their faces no matter how far away they are to you.
Letters and postcards are another way to communicate. It is the slowest way these days, but is still the most exciting and fun way of sending and receiving personal 1 to 1 messages.
T.V and radio offer an effective way of communicating sound and pictures to a wide audience at the same time.
Computers and internet have made communication easier and faster with family and friends by using apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp and email. This new social media has resulted from in a worse level of English writing skills.

In Ancient Egypt however, thousands of years ago, they communicated by talking, writing hieroglyphics and drawing pictures of their day to day lives.

  16. Transportation and communication today:

    Transportation:

There are three different ways of transportation in our modern day life. We can either travel by road, on water or in the air. I think wheel was the most significant invention, which made transportation much easier and quicker for us. We have several ways of transportation for example trains, underground tubes, cars, bikes, boats, planes and helicopters. Sometimes people travel on foot or by riding animals, such as donkeys, horses and camels. There is another magnificent means of transport. It is the spectacular rocket which takes humans to outer space!

    Communication:

Nowadays we have different ways of communicating, for example we can communicate over a phone, social media or an email. People who are deaf and dumb use symbols with their hands to communicate. Another way of communicating through a phone is texting. We can also call and email someone through a phone. We have more languages to communicate with each other for example English, Spanish, French, Latin, German, Urdu etc. Writing letters to someone is another way of communicating.

Transportation and communication during Ancient Egypt:

    Transportation:

In Ancient Egypt, the people did not build any roads to travel around. Instead, they had a special means of travel on water because of Nile River. The Egyptians became experts at building boats and navigating the river. They even build large and strong cargo ships. They build their boats and were specialists for fishing. Also, if someone was rich they could afford enough soldiers to carry them around on a wooden board with a chair.

    Communication:

The Egyptians formed a language with pictures about 5000 years ago and they used it up until 400 AD. These pictures were called hieroglyphs. Some hieroglyphs were very complicated and took a long time to draw. The development of written communication made ancient Egypt to become one of the greatest empires of its time. The Egyptians invented writing and measuring.

    Conclusion:

About transportation, in our modern day life we have many different and efficient ways to travel whereas, during the ancient Egyptian times they could only travel on boats, or walk or being carried around on foot. With regards to communication in our modern day life we have lots of new languages to communicate with each other and also different means of communication. Whereas, during ancient Egyptian time they only had hieroglyphs to communicate which has been forgotten now.
I think I am lucky to be born in our modern day life because of all the phenomenal discoveries and significant inventions.
