Leaflet

In geography we have been using maps to find out about the local area and making leaflets about the best places to visit in Hounslow.  For homework think about a place you have visited (eg London, France, Manchester).   Create a leaflet about the location.  Try to include:

  • Places you may visit – Zoos, cinema, beach
  • A map – drawn or copied.
  • Exciting descriptions of each place including expanded noun phrases.
  • Pictures, captions, labels and subheadings.

  1. Dear Miss Joseph, here are the words from my leaflet. My mum printed it out at her school today but left it there, she will get it from school tomorrow so I can bring it in on Monday.

    Visit Brighton
    THINGS YOU CAN VISIT
    Brighton’s Pier
The best place to go is the Palace Pier which is on Madeira Drive. The pier is good because there are really fun rides including the Turbo Rollercoaster and the Helter Skelter, Dodgems, Trampolines and Ghost House. There are other things on the pier including restaurants and treat shops. The pier was built in 1891, the 1,700 foot long Palace Pier is the last of Brighton’s 3 piers to remain in use. One was destroyed in a storm, whilst the other is near the towns sea front but was in a fire so only the ironwork is left.

    he Brighton Wheel
One of the newest town attractions is the Brighton Wheel, just next to the pier. It is 150ft in diameter. There are 36 glass pods on the wheel. And you can see amazing views of Brighton and the sea front. Each pod can take up to 8 passengers.

    The Amex Stadium
The Amex is the home to Brighton and Hove Albion Football Team. It opened in 2011. The Amex is in Falmer which is just outside Brighton town centre. You can take the train from Brighton Station, it is 3 stops to Falmer. Or you can park and ride to the stadium by parking at Mill Road, just near Devils Dyke. Brighton came 3rd in the Championship this year, their nickname is The Seagulls. Their home kit is blue and white stripes and the away kit this season was yellow and black.

Other things to do in Brighton:
Go to Churchill Square shopping centre and visit the Lego Shop, Smiggle Shop and play Table Tennis on the ground floor.

Go to the SeaLife Centre. You get a mini passport to find clues around the Sealife centre. You need to collect 8 stamps to complete the passport and receive a badge. At the SeaLife Centre you can see sharks, clown fish, string ray, turtles, sea horses and sea stars.

The Peter Pan playground on Madeira Drive is really fun to go to because in the summer there are water jets and fountains that you can run through. The climbing frame are really hard to get across which makes it fun and challenging.

The playground at The Level is really fun because there are sandpits, climbing frames, rock walls, ropes courses a music area. There are also water fountains next to the playground which are really fun to play in the hot summer
